And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”
I HAVE BELOVED APPAREL IN NEED OF A LOVING NEW HOME
Like family photos, drawings made by your long-grown children, or a worn American flag, apparel that is impregnated with spiritual significance cannot be discarded in the trash without a second thought. The very existence of such apparel – no longer needed by individuals or groups, but with the potential to make a difference for the recipient – was at the genesis of Robe Gifting, back in 2014. During a 20-year career in the field of clergy attire, our founder Michael McMullen realized that while many ministers had accumulated robes over the years that were no longer in use, and while many churches had stored away choir robes that were never to be worn again, other individuals and groups were in dire need of apparel they couldn’t possibly afford. Michael actually became aware of robes ending up in landfills, just because there was nowhere to recycle or refurbish them.
Our thoughtful contributors in kind are primarily licensed and ordained individuals, engaged in spiritual practice, with the wish for a sacred clean way to transition unused robes and other liturgical accessories. Another regular source of apparel consists of widows or widowers of clergy members, looking to extend their loved ones’ beneficial influence past their earthly journey, in a manner reminiscent of organ donating.
Whether you need to find a loving home for one single clerical robe or chasuble, for 50 stoles from your choir, or for any other liturgical accessory, chances are we can match your gift with an individual or a group in need. The first step is yours, and you can contact us with the form below. We pledge to communicate with you promptly and clearly, and we pray we can assist you in your quest.
